A serving tray from any of the fast food places was the perfect 'tool' for separating seeds from weeds. Pour the grass out, tilt to about 30 degrees and shake gently back and forth. Seeds would roll to the bottom and leaves stick to the pattern of the tray.
Course, the only reason I know this is that I used to work at McD's and we, umm, well, we, err, had to constantly buy new trays to replace the stolen ones. Yeah, that's it.
