Hi Marina,
In my first 12 year bout with clusters, I ALWAYS used heat. I wanted a scalding hot washcloth over my eye. I don't know if it actually helped relieve the pain or just had allowed me to concentrate on the burn of the hot, hot cloth -- a far less debilitating pain than that of the cluster HA. Now that years have passed and the HAs are back, I've been using cold. Since there is a big question as to whether or not CHAs are vascular in nature or not, it seems clear, once again, that we should do whatever WORKS.
