Propranolol, Inderal is used for migraine HA's. If your son does have cluster headaches he probably should be using something along the lines of verapamil, lithium, prednisone, valproic acid or Sansert to prevent his attacks. Imitrex is a great treatment to stop a headache once it occurs. Other medications to stop CH's are Cafergot or ergomar. Breathing oxygen from an "E" cylinder at 7 liters per minute is effective in 70% of sufferers. Application of ice packs to the head, cold showers or breathing cold air from the freezer has helped some sufferers.
