Your wrist-slitting post and the responses it garnered reminded me of a time I told one of my favorite jokes to a big group at a soccer function: What are most rednecks' last words? "Hey y'all, watch this!". (It's funnier with dialect and sound effects).
Anyway, everybody had a good belly laugh when I told it, except one person who called me an insensitive son of a bitch, turned their back, and left crying. Turns out this person's brother had died about a year before by doing a really stupid stunt (car surfing on an interstate). Now how was I to know that? Should I stop telling all jokes that are macabre because someone listening might have had a recent death in the family? I have decided not. I can't control people's reactions to life's cold, hard circumstances and I won't take the spice out of my life by trying to be unoffensive to everyone! Mind you, I wouldn't tell them at a funeral....
We're free to vent on this board, to cuss the demon, to share our feelings even when they are suicidal. We're also free to poke fun at the worst life has to offer, cluster headaches and suicides, nasty doctors, and anything else!
