Imitrex seems to work PRN to relieve the pain of CH in the fastest time possible, and if the doses are broken up (see DJ's post about making two shots out of one)the side effects are not as bad.
Ercaf (Cafagot) works slower (PRN) but seems to last longer.
As for abortatives - Verapimil helps a lot of people in high doses (didn't me). I'm currently taking 10mg of Amaltryptiline and can't see that's it's helping (might need to increase dosage).
Sorry Barb is feeling poorly, but this whole thing of abortatives is trial and error (in my case a lot of errors). Keep trying to hit on something and let us know what works.
