Here's what has worked in the past for me as a preventive (maintenance) med. Note that each year it's a roll of the dice as to which one will work (if any).
Lithium Carbonate 1200 mg/day
Sansert 4 mg/day
Verapamil 480 mg/day
Prednisone 80 mg/day tapering to zero after two weeks
Inderal (don't remember the dosage)
For abortive meds, nothing beats Imitrex (it has never failed me). I prefer the nasal sprays but the injections work even faster. Narcotics don't do squat for my CH's so I don't even use them, they just make me groggy and don't even dull the pain. Maxalt is good, so is Zomig, but pills take some time to work (especially on a full stomach). Oxygen is my first choice, then I do an Imitrex if it doesn't work.
