My god, GET HIM THAT PREDNISONE! You say it works,
so go to another doctor who will prescribe it, and
don't stop until you find that doctor! I'm on
Prednisone, and it's the only thing that's helped me.
I take a very "aggressive" dosage that has never
caused serious side effects. My dosage is as
follows: 5 20 mg pills for 2 days, 4 for 2 days,
3 for 2 days, 1 for 2 days, then none for 1 day,
then 1, then none, then 1. Then, I do the same
thing all over once again. If the headaches
return during the first taper when I get down to
1, I immediate start the second taper (back up to
5). When I'm at the end of the second taper, I
may stick to 2 for a few extra days before continuing
to 1 pill.
I'm a female who's has cluster for 35 years.
My episodes last for 1 month every 2 years, so
this regimen has been tailored to me (with teamwork
between me and my doctor. Of course you must
monitor the side effects of the Prednisone, but
that's true with any drug. Also, due to the
extreme situation of your husband, I think most of
the side effects would be preferable to the way
he's suffering.
Pleasek get a more compassionate, compliance
doctor immediately.
