My pharmacist told me that melatonin is not approved as a drug here in Switzerland, it is considered a 'food additive'. He could get some for me, but not through his usual outlet, it took 10 days to get it and at price as if it were made by Glaxo. It didn't help me much, so I didn't look around for other sources, but it is probably available here in health food stores. Maybe you can get it in a health food store in the UK.
