Sinus headaches are closely related to the symptoms of a migraine. I thought for years I had "just sinus" headaches. But, I can now tell the difference. With a sinus headache, the pain is a deep, dull ache in the nasal area, behind the eye, in your cheek area, etc. Wherever your sinuses are located, that's where the pain is. The headache that comes with it is generally behind the eye but does not necessarily stay in one position. It can travel from one side to the other side of the head. It can occur on both sides at the same time, including the passage behind the top of the nose in the forehead area.
The nose is stuffed / congested, and if you blow your nose, you get a green / yellow discharge. (This is more apparent with an infection...)It is aggravated by the cold air, varying pressure, viruses, and allergies. The biggest difference between a sinus HA and a migraine are: 1)with a sinus HA, if you bend over, the pain and congestion become worse. With a migraine, bending over for me makes no difference in pain.
2) There are no "side effects" with a sinus HA as with a migraine. With a migraine, I am nauseous, throw up, have to sleep it off, need to lay down and rest, etc. I can't function. With a sinus HA, to me it's like a real terrible head cold. OTC drugs usually work for me for sinus HAs. They don't with migraines. Hope this was of some help to you.

Cathy
