Nancy,
The candida thing shouldn't require a long term treatment to see if it makes a difference.
The modern anti-fungals appear pretty effective compared to the old stuff like Nystatin.

Compared to some of the "treatments" we've been exposed to in the past (i.e. your prednisone experience) they are also pretty harmless.

The one copy of the "Yeast Connection" I saw was written in the 80's and it looks lke thats all they had then. Many of the cases Dr. Crook cites took months to correct. The cyclic nature of cluster may be telling us that we don't have the "infestation" as bad of some of his paitients either. Could be we're just more sensitive to flare up. Or sensitive in a different way-we get a headcache.

All in all, the few cases of cluster sucess so far (including my own) show some positive reaction in the first few days.

Once you knock the stuff down, "maintenace" is diet and fairly benign supplements like accidophillus and garlic to restore health and microflora.

With my experience and reading those of others, unless you've got it real bad, a couple of weeks of anit-fungals ought to be plenty. By that time you should have it whipped, or at least have made a solid "connection". As I've said before, my preference would be Lamisil, but it appears Diflucan will do it too.

The more successes, and possibly failures, the better we can get at a treatment. Myself and some others are convinced though, that there is a connection. Let's just hope it will work for all of us.

will post a "diary" soon of my experience as soon as I can make some sense of my ramblings.

Dan Line
