The Trigeminal nerve has 3 branches, the reason for the Tri. One is in the jaw area, one cheek and temple, and one eye and forehead, prox. Trigeminal neuralgia is usually always on one side of head like clusters are.
There are also other kinds of facial neuralgia's that affect the tongue, throat and ear. So I think you doctor might be wrong but also somewhat right, meaning most any kind of facial pain is hard to diagnose.
You are wise to be opened minded about the injections Harley. We never know where our next help might come from.
