On Thursday, I had an appointment with a new neurologist for me (my 4th), Dr. Darryl Camp of Longview, Texas. I learned of Dr. Camp from Barb D., who sees his associate, Dr. Hamer. I'm very excited and pleased with how the session went. First of all, he is a very pleasant and attentative person. I'm sure you all can understand how nice that is. Dr. Camp suffers from Cluster Headaches! How many neuros are there with that qualification? We talked about my headaches and his headaches and many many of the things I have learned since I started coming here. I encouraged him to visit this site, and he sounded quite interested, especially in DJ and his Imitrex tip. I hope he does and becomes a regular. Maybe if we all encourage him, he'll attend the convention! He is an advocate of Prednisone for prophylaxis and Imitrex nasal spray for abortive therapies, but seemed agreeable to utilizing whatever works for the individual.

Since I went into remission 2 weeks ago, we decided that we would just wait until my next cycle to start anything new, but here is the best part (for me). When my next cycle starts, he'll get me in to see him as soon as possible, so we can actually try something. This is great, because for the history of my clusters, the story has been the same. Headaches start, call neuro, get an appointment for 8 or more weeks out, cycle ends right before appointment, nothing new is tried.

I have an MRA (not sure exactly, but like an MRI, which I had in 95) scheduled for September 7. He says that it is just a diagnostic formality to rule out anything else.

Anyway, since all I've done on the board is gripe about my Insurance company so far, I just wanted to post something positive, and say again how much this website has helped me, and I believe we will someday look back and see what a key role it played in helping all CH sufferers worldwide.
