in the 'glossary' i posted a couple of weeks back, i defined shadows rather broadly. Basically any warning or intermediary low level pain, much like Amanda describes below. "Aura" refers to a visual abnormality, and is indeed associated with migraines, and I think we need to keep using that term to reflect any visual affects.
IMHO, 'shadows' can vary just as clusters can-worse for some, less so for others. perhaps we need an "S" scale?
