I can't tell you about life without caffein. I do know I drink a minimum of 2 pots of coffee every day. All day...all night. My 2 episodes each year come and go anyway.
Knowing that all things are related somehow, I can't say how your system and CH intereact with or without caffein. But mine doesn't seem to care one way or tother.
