John: I have been taking Imigran (wich is the brand name of Imitrex here in Italy) for almost 4 months now. I had C/H 7 years ago, then nothing until end of May last. It seems to be working fine with me + I have not had any significant side effects so far. I just feel tired and a little dizzy sometime but this is it. Rightnow C/H attacks seem to be really slowing down (I'm also taking Verapamil) and I can bear them without the help of Imitrex. But 2 months ago there were days when I was up to 4 injections a day since C/H was so strong. Doctor and neurologist advised me that even if medication sheet says no more than two 6 mg injections per day I could be the judge and use it according to needs. Again, no significan or particular side effects arose. I must alert you though that side effects change frome one person to another so what seems ok for me can be too much for somebody else.
But if Imitrex is the only thing that stops the pain I would suggest that you take as much as needed at least during the worst part of the bout. All the best from Italy
Cesare
