I called the poison control centre for my husband who was in the same boat as you are now. They told me oxygen is oxygen....the danger is not being able to regulate the flow from welders' tanks and the risk is ripping lung tissue if you inhale too quickly or too deeply. Also, MAKE SURE you are using the right tank!! ours has acetylene AND oxygen.... BE CAREFUL!!!
Mike still uses the welders oxygen with success and has been doing so now for the last two years as we can't get a prescription for medicinal oxygen here (Calgary, Canada) unless it is being used for respiratory illness.
