I haven't found it very useful for aborting a headache once it starts -- in fact, it seems to prolong it. However, I've used it at bedtime to prevent early morning headaches. For me, one dose will last about four hours, so two doses will get me through the night.
I'm leary about using it too much because of the risk of addiction, although my wife (who's a physician) says that in her experience its personality more than the specific drug that determines addiction -- in other words, if you've hd addiction problems with other things, cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, etc., you're likely to have problems with stadol.
