REM phase of sleep?

So common....for my husband, the Beast waits until he is deeply asleep - or in the REM phase of sleep - to attack.
It is for this reason that I give him Dramamine (or our Canadian equivalent, Gravol) before bed. It produces sleep as a side effect but doesn't let you get into REM sleep for some reason. It got Mike through the night and, although he didn't get the deep sleep, he didn't get the middle of the night attack either.
A few people here have tried this trick and it has helped them too. If you do get an attack in the middle of the night, it won't touch your pain but it's worth a shot to see if you can avoid it!
