I love alcohol more than anybody (I'm half Irish, half German) but I can't even have one beer without a cluster. This has been for 9 years. Sorry to disapoint you but when it comes to alcohol the futures' not so bright that I don't even have to wear shades. So I fiqured I'd just smoke marijuana instead. Turns out marijuana is a type of alcohol and it also is potent trigger of my clusters. The bottom line is I was a happy, functioning "drug user" until I got clusters at age 21. I'm 31 now, sober and not happy that my two favorite drugs are rejected so painfully by my screwed up circadian rhythm pathway or what ever the hell the lame researchers have decided this month causes clusters.
