I personally can't read whatever kip scale number I'm at -- well, I can at 0, of course --because even with my reading glasses I've noticed that using my eyes so actively will jack up the pain to another level. Or bring one on that I'm sure that I could have countered by pressure points. However, what I do do is go into my living room, turn on the TV with a low volume and escape in that manner. When it gets to a certain level of pain I usually give one of my parents a call (the only 2 people that I sometimes feel that I can bother with this and just ask them to talk to me about nice things or neutral things. But no bad things and nothing about food, rain or other triggers can be said to me. The personal, live contact is beneficial to me. On the other hand, since my mind is in such a fog, I could rarely remember what they've said to me afterwards. But if you can find an escape in reading with no more pain added, lucky you. I'd prefer that.
