Hello... I have a friend who is on oxygen constantly due to pulmonary disease. Recently I helped take her to the airport for a trip. She was allowed to take her portable oxygen tank into the airplane just during loading time, and then she was given oxygen through the airplane's own oxygen breathing system throughout the flight. I took her oxygen tank home with me during her trip, and she rented a different tank at her destination. Then, when she returned, I met her at the gate with her normal tank. It's best to plan all of this ahead at both ends, and to warn the airline that you might need oxygen in flight; I suspect you'll also have to have a note from your doctor. And plan extra time getting in and out of the airport, too. It takes extra time to get permission to carry the oxygen tank through the security gates, etc. Hope this helps.
