Traci,
Northern Ky is where this clusterhead lives. Episodic clusters for me.
Started about age 34, no warnings..just bamm.
Diagnosed for everything under the sun including migrains, stress, allergies, pollen, depending on the doctor. Even went to a chiropractor for awhile, nothing worked for me untill finally a headache specialist started me on steriods. Mine are always twice a year, spring and fall, with possibly a twist or two somewhere in between. I take a heavy load of prednisone at first then tapper off in about 12-18 days. This has worked the best for me for about 5 years. I keep plenty of Imitrex on hand, just till the pred. can get in and get working on me. I'm just finishing up my fall season of pain and haven't had a bad one for about a week. My session seems to last from 2-4 weeks give or take. It's hard on my family when they show up but at least they understand, as best they can. The steroids work well but it does take a few days to kick in. I guess I've more or less deceided whats best for me so my family doctor is who I see now. I keep extra pred on hand for the next time they start. My wife always makes sure we have a shot also, just in case. I also have tried other pills and herbs but to no avail. I stumbled on this site by accident and can't believe the info and support here. Tell your husband he is not alone by any stretch...believe me. I hope I've been just a little help for him. Good luck
