Kevin:
Regardless of what kind of dr. I go to, my neuro, obgyn or family practitioner, I always go with a list of questions I want answered. I usually let the dr. to discuss things first, his opinion, etc. Then, I pull out my list. If he/she has answered all the questions, great. That has never happened, tho. My doctors, especially my neuro, have come to appreciate my pro-active attack. They know that I am not going to allow them to push me through in a few minutes. Because you don't know your new neuro, I would take info from the board. I haven't had to do that as my neuro diagnosed me right away with ch and is very knowledgabe. I would hope your neuro knows something. My feeling is, if they are "young", they probably have been informed, to some degree, about ch. As for your choice not to try a preventative, think about it again. Tell the neuro what you have tried and didn't work. He/she may have some ideas for you. I thought I would try just using Imitrex my last cycle, instead of going on Lithium. Didn't want to add more crap to my body. BUT, after about a week or so of shooting, the chs getting more intense and more frequent, I went back on the Lithium for about 7 weeks. Cheaper than doing 2 shots of Imitrex a day. Plus I didn't get ANY ch while on the Lithium. There are so many medicines out there---I wouldn't give up. What works for others may not work for you, and vice versa. It's like playing a game to find the right one. But, if this neuro is any good, he will be willing to help you find the right one.

Good luck!
Cathy
