Like most other replies, these two things, when I am in a cycle start me off...one thing I have noticed is wine or whatever. can start me off in as little as 10mins. MSG is about 4 hours, but the pain lasts for 5 -6 hrs, and has meant a trip to the ER. Even my imitrex injections does nothing. This cycle, I have found out that I am HIGHLY allergic to MSG. A few days ago, I had an egg roll...took one bite, chewed, swallowed, and the alarm bells went off...ate no more, but had a nasty headache for nearly 14 hrs (not a CH.) Tested the beast with two glasses of wine last night..nothing, so I reluctantly say, I think I'm done with this cycle. (reluctant, because the last time I posted that I thought they had gone...they came thundering back, and were relentless!!)
