Yesterday I got caught away from home with a nasty cluster headache. No oxygen. It took me five or 10 minutes to admit it wasn't just a twinge. It was going pretty good by the time I went to my car's air conditioning. I had to get on my hands and knees on the front seat of the car to get my head right up against the air vents. After just a minute or two it really cut the pain.

As I was positioned there I remembered something Alex had written about fitting the O2 mask so the excess flow goes toward the eyes. The first several minutes in the car I had kept my eyes shut. My clusters are very light sensitive, and I was outside on a sunny day in Phoenix. I did have one of those sun screen things up in the dashboard that at least blocked the direct sunlight. So as I was thinking about what Alex had said I also remebered how, at home in front of the air conditioning duct, it had felt better when I had my eyes open.

So I opened my eyes and looked straight into the cold air flow so the air blew directly into my eyeballs. The pain eased right away. After a few minutes it seemed to be gone so I leaned back out of the air flow & realized the headache was still there. I leaned back and had the air blow right on my open eyes again for a few minutes longer, and then it was really gone. Yippee!!!

(When I was at home I had my eyes open looking into the air vent while I was using the O2 at 10 liter/minute...that worked great, too!)

I hope this isn't just a fluke. Please let me know if this works for anyone else.

Death to Clusters!
