I think that the reference is to chronic ordinary headaches as opposed to chronic cluster pain. I have chronic ordinary headaches and I have episodic cluster pain. The chronic ordinary headache and the chronic cluster pain both can strike in the middle of the night. With the ordinaries, I go to sleep, I dream that I have a headache, I wake up, and I do have a headache. With the clusters, I go to sleep and, without any warning at all, I’m awakened by the indescribably agonizing pain that only another clusterhead can understand. In my opinion, if your problem is chronic *ordinary* headaches, you shouldn’t be taking up space on this board. Chronic ordinary headaches interfere with the quality of your life; chronic cluster pain destroys your life. If your problem is chronic cluster pain, this is the place for you. Anyone who has chronic clusters has my admiration. In fact, I hold such people in awe. The only thing that gets me through a cluster episode is the knowledge that it’s going to end and I won’t have to worry about it again for years. (Yes, I know. As clusterheads go, I’m one of the luckier ones.)
