Although I am posting this after a particular post, thanks to all who responded.
In reading your posts, and in what is going through
my head as I write this, I realize I get two types
of after-effects.
The first, would be more like the brain bruise
(I think). For me, it is a very low grade type of
pain (on par with the annoyance of a very low motor
hum -- not enough to distract while working, but you
know it is there).
The second, the type of pain Peter described (like a hammer) is
something else I have experienced. However each of these seems to
happen at different times. I experience the "brain bruise"
after most CH attacks. But the hammer pain is something I am
feeling right now. It usually occurs only after CHs I get in the
middle of the night and usually, for some odd reason, if I fall asleep before
the entire episode is over (when the pain has gone from a 6 or 7, back
down to a 2 or 3, and the balance between pain and exhaustion slides in
favor of exhaustion).
