I have tried Imitrex, both full strength and 1/3 dose. I have also tried Amerge. Both work short-term only, followed by a "rebound", or another CH. They come sooner (45 minutes) with Imitrex than with Amerge (2-3 hours). For me, neither of these medications is anywhere nearly as effective for me as DHE-45 in aborting CH without rebound, and neither works at all for prevention, whereas DHE does. I understand from reading posts on this site that triptans work for many CH folks. All of the above are migraine medications. Hopefully there will be an effective CH-specific medication soon. This website and our participation in awareness efforts are our best hopes, IMHO.
