You need to be sure you are using the kind of mask with a plastic bag that accumulates oxygen while you are exhaling. The correct type of mask will have three valves on it. One is at the oxygen inlet, and blocks the oxygen while you exhale, causing it to back up into the plastic bag. The other two are on the sides of the mask, and prevent any outside air from mixing with the oxygen while you inhale. I use 10 liters/minute with this type of mask. The stuff never worked for me at all when I was using a standard mask.
