My mom's idea of tough love was when you were down that was the best time to remind you of everything that is possibly wrong with you. Then she would console me because at least she loved me. Sort of like the army, tear em down and build em back up philosophy.
I am in the dark concerning what method of tough love this is. This is sort of like tear them down when they are down and keep them squished? Ahh love, ....Then what do I know about love.
