Bill,
I too have tremendous respect and empathy for your family's challenges. I don't have any experience with autism to feel I can contribute as Margi and Jamy have.
I do have to offer another opinion in counterpoint to Maryse's. Avoidance of light and noise is very common in migraines, and although it is seen in clusters, from my reading of this board, most clusterheads are not bothered by light, and being in darkness is not a help.
At the same time, staring directly into, or craving, bright lights is not a cluster trait I've seen anyone mention.
I, too, support drummer's advice. Topomax seems to work well for the clusterheads who are in trial with it, and it has also been used successfully with migraines, I believe.
I wish you the best of luck, and continued strength in facing the challenges life has given you and your family.
KTSSU,
T
