It is radiation directed at the trigiminal(sp) nerve ganglion from many different points. I had the procedure done in June 99. For me, it did not work nor did it for one other person I know. I now have some side effects from the proceedure that are not pleasant (tingling and numbness in my face and jaw). The proceedure obviously has worked for some.
I would recommend a couple of successful nerve blocks before agreeing to the gamma knife. Besides some risk, it is also very expensive.
