You said it yourself in what you wrote, that what might work for one might not work for others. Ask your dr. about Amerge. I was taking one pill before I went to bed to prevent the headache that wakes you up, it worked for me. It also seemed to help with the headaches later in the day. I still had them, but they wouldn't go above a 4. I hope you find that certain something that works for you. All the best!!
