I am a 22 yr. veteran of chronic cluster headaches. Imitrex did not work ar all for me-nothing designed to prevent the headaches has worked. Doctor treats the symptoms as they come and go. I sometimes use a "high"dose of a barbituate (a dangerous drug) to simply sleep through a headache. I have gone many days in a row without any sleep. Sleep disorder is now recognized as a complicating factor in cluster headaches. Migranal has also helped- i try the non-narcotic approach, but do not hesitate to use schedule II drugs when needed.
