Cluster headaches cause pain in the 5th cranial nerve. This nerve is what your body uses to sense and feel along the entire face...but it is also used to control the muscles used in chewing. Could chewing, which uses the same nerve that is suffering in the headaches cause the pain to go away? Not reliably, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens on occasion...and it's easy enough to try.
Many people after using a shot of Imitrex have pain when chewing for a half-hour or so after the injection. It is, in my opinion, for the same reason. The 5th nerve has been affected.
5 weeks is a long time for history taking. Get some treatment before it drives you crazy. Good luck.
