I have suffered from depression/anxiety since age 15. I personally believed ther is a link between the two.
I slip into a depression right before the onset of an episode of CHs
However, considering the intensity of pain and the physical and emotional effect CHs have upon us is depressing.
It is known that seretonin is involved in the CH process. I am no doctor but my records show that depression and CHs are fairly accurate concerning a link. Note this is only my personal experience and could be an individual occurance. We do not know enough about CHs and intrinsic factors involved in this disorder. Hell. We know more about the universe than CHs. Research needs to be conducted and we know that few are doing so. But chs.com is involved in pushing for more research and I suppose finding a safe and effective treatment is a long way off.
Antidepressants are commonly used to treat CHs; mainly to boost levels of seretonin and/or to treat the depression some experience.
Good luck and a pain free Suinday to all.
