Jimi,
I am singing the praises of Topamax. Have been on it for several months now. Am on 100mg morning and night and have only had one HA since the first week and got to it real quick, so it wasn't a bad one.(well to be honest, it was BAD enough - I just blocked it out afterwards - knocked me to my knees at the time).

I think the stuff is WONDERFUL. The first few weeks I did have some memory loss, but I'm old so no one noticed. It just seemed normal for me. Here it is several months later and I'm still having to have someone tell me names and words I forget.

My neuro warned me about the sedative effects, but I never did have them. Still don't. Guess everyone reacts differently. I'm still afraid to get excited because I've been chronic for so long, but this is the first thing that's ever worked for me, so it's really wonderful to be able to plan things a few days in advance and be able to keep commitments. The HAs have ruled my life for so long that anytime anyone asked me to do something, I've been so used to saying, "I'll try." Now I'm actually planning things "ahead" and keeping appointments.

As you can tell, I'm excited about being "normal" again. As long as it lasts I'm taking advantage of it and enjoying every minute of it. You do the same.

Hugs BD
