It was a very long and hard road getting my immediate medical community to agree to let me do a trial of Ritalin. Finally, after tons of papers faxed to them from sources originating from this board, I am now at the end of my first week. The dosage is 5mg twice a day. Ritalin is not a time release medicine. As far as I know 30mg a day is the maximum. So far I have been able, beautifully, to stay at 10mg a day. There is no actual “speed” sensation, and no crash. The first two nights on Ritalin I was awakened by “the headache”, took a 5mg Ritalin and the headache split within 30 minutes. I had no problem at all going back to sleep. There does not seem to be a shadow or the knowing a headache is there but you can’t feel it. All this information is only a “so far” experience. As more time goes by I will keep the board posted. One person on the board emailed me and requested the printouts of the faxes. If anyone wants the info, I am happy to stick it in the mail along with the letters I wrote my docs.
