I’ve had operations for both a deviated septum and nasal polyps, in an effort to restore my senses of smell and taste. The total for the two operations, done at the same time, was about $4000. My senses of taste and smell were not restored, but I do find it easier to breathe while lying down than before. There was no effect, one way or the other, on my clusters. In my opinion, it wasn’t worth the hassle. If it wasn’t for the fact that my health insurance paid for it, I would have considered myself to have been royally screwed. I definitely wouldn’t have had it done, if I’d had to pay for it out of my own pocket and if I hadn’t been desperately hoping to be able to taste and smell, again.
