Hmmm, how to define stomach cramps. It has been several years since I got my filter, so it doesn't happen much any more, but I do remember it was worse on an empty stomach. As I recall, kind of a clench or a kick in the gut or twisting feel. Definitely not a nausea feel. Not a sharp, pinpoint pain either.

But again, everyone's different, so your reaction may be diff from mine. Also, per Margi's note, make sure you're not confusing pains in the kidney with stomach aches, since your kidney processes body fluids. I know _nothing_ about kidney malfunction (and barely anything about function), but it stands to reason that it might hurt if it were complaining. And see Margi's first post to John where she recommends talking to your doctor before doing any treatment, whether it seems natural or not. Good advice that, and one I'd do well to remember myself.

WRT the filter - I use one that sits in a pitcher on the counter. We just fill it whenever it's empty. Having it sitting out 'handy' also encourages me to drink, too.
