I've never taken Ercaf, but my dr. recently put me on Amerge 2.5mg 2x@day, to be used as a preventative. While it's not perfect, it does keep the monster at bay, and the only breakthrough HAs have been after the half-shelf life of 8 hours has passed. I have been able to abort those with strong coffee and cold/warm compresses.
My neuro told me that while it's a triptan like Imitrex, it's a slower release and much less side affects. Obviously, I'm not a doc, but I would wean myself off of Ercaf and find a new doc, asap.
