I did not start with clusters until after my 2nd pregnancy (at age 31). I never noticed any hormonal tie-ins until recently.

Six years ago at Thanksgiving (I remember because it was my son's first trip home from college) I got very, very sick and got the dinner on the table and took to my bed for days. This is very unlike me because I usually keep on no matter what. I was running a high fever at night (103+) but it would go down during the day. I thought I had the flu. Then I got my period (lots of cramps and headaches). Then I got started on clusters. Up to then they'd only come between January and May. And they were the very worst I have ever had before and since. It turned out I had a serious urinary tract infections with none of the usual symptoms.

I thought that the combination of illness and my period played some role in the clusters...

And yes, it is tough having kids to take care of and a job when having clusters. And I have a basically happy fulfilling life with a wonderful husband and two now-grown kids I am very proud of.
