SO - tho I try to keep the med level as LOW as possible in general, I also don't play russian roulette with trying to "tough out" attacks, because I believe that is asking for trouble

seems clear to me,
but lets try it a different way:

I often find a cluster seems to go "out of control" (many BAD attacks day & night, for many days in a row)if it isn't kept as suppressed as possible to begin with - there doesn't seem to be a moderate course;
and when it does, it is then much much much harder to control any single attack, OR slow the frequency down
so - because of this I think it is "dangerous" to just sit through bad attacks, because the whole cluster often gets worse
