Bob, I think you may have deduced a trigger for
your clusters and I pray you'llbe helping other
sufferers. However, I would have to say that
these headaches are individual, I have never
gotten an episode during or after a flight. I
work in a 40 story building and use the elevators
several times a day - ears popping all the while.
This has not triggered an episode, although I am
currently having one. The trigger, I believe, was
tasting a single mouthful of red wine. A fine
Merlot, which I love and havent touched in years.
The last time I had a glass of red wine it triggeres
an episode lasting 9 months and two or three per
day. When I am non clustering, I drink socially,
sticking mainly to beer. I eat foods containing
sulfites and caffeine, so go figure. However, I will
be observant since reading your post and try some
of your techniques and if they produce a marked
change, I will be sure to follow up and let you know.
If I thought it would help, I would get out of bed
at 2:30 AM (my usual cluster time) and drive to
work and ride the elevators up and down to make my
ears pop. Good luck, if your cure is as simple as
a prescription for Antivert that would be great!
