Imitrx comes in three forms: pill, nasal inhaler, and injection. The pills may take 20 minutes or more to be absorbed, while the inhaler works faster and the injection almost immediately. If the pill or inhaler is not taken at the earlist hint of headache, it may be inefective. One contributer to this site suggests taking a pill and using pure oxygen until it takes effect. The costs are about $9 per pill, $15 per disposable inhaler, and $35 per injection. As far as safety, read the literature that comes with the meds and discuss with your doctor. Risk from occasional use is minimal. Risk from extened use is mostly undetermined. I suggest you fill your prescription from a large, 24-hour pharmacy. There is nothing worse than a mid-night headache you weren't expecting and no available immitrex.
