First off, Let me say I feel your pain - literally. Second, if you haven't doen so already, you should see a neurologist ASAP. There are many treatments out there that can help prevent/abort/or dillute the pain. Not everything works for everybody, but since this is your first episode, chances are you should respond to lighter meds with good results.
And, of course - everyone around you will not be able to understand your pain. How could they? Unless they've had a spike driven into thier head before (which is unlikely) They will not be able to relate.
