I'm 51 and have had clusters for 35 years. My cycle
has been 1 month every 2 years. I've never smoked
and rarely drink alcohol. I have 1 cup of coffee
in the morning and one at night. After a major
emotional event in my life, the death of my brother,
my episodes changed from every 3 years to every
2 years. But I think it's very hard to establish
causality in clusters. There's always stress in life,
and it can be tempting to find patterns where
there are none.
A very interesting question would be to ask whether
either parent had clusters OR migraines. I think
there is a very strong genetic component with these
headaches. In my case, my mother had migraines.
