I went thru this therapy 2x. Both times, I was in the middle of a cycle. They hooked me up to an i. v. for 12 hrs. each night for 11 nights and both times the h/a's stopped gradually as the treatments went along. If I got a h/a they gave me a shot of Demerol. I went in each day at 6pm and they hooked and I unhooked the hose and left the hookup in my arm and let me go home. After the second round of treatments the Dr. told me he would not give me the treatments anymore because he said he didn't know if the treatments helped or if it was the rest I got from staying in bed for 12 hrs. a night. He said he wanted to try some things on the next cycle, but by then Imitrex came out and he said I should use it and nothing else. I was not happy with this decision, so I went to another headache clinic and the Dr. there gave me Verapamil and DHE, but the DHE gradually would not work anymore.
