It is normal for chronic cluster patients to have variations in the number of headaches and how powerful they are; I've seen that stated in medical literature.
I've also lived it for eight years now. I have milder headaches most of the year, rarely more than 5 on a scale of 1 to 10, but in January through March I got stronger ones sometimes even an episodic cluster of #10's.
