I was reading the original post and thinking how saddening it is to read so often how many are misdiagnosed at first. How many Drs. just don't know that these even exist, or whatever the reason that they just don't peg it from the start. And I was just starting to feel like I can understand that, since it's such a rare disease and probably shouldn't headline JAMA all the time, when I read your post. It's even more saddening that not only do some people have to self-diagnose, but that (some) women in particular have to argue the point and find a dr who will believe them for the simple fact that they are female.
